What do I include on my References page for a paper in APA 7th edition format?
Answer
Your reference list provides the information necessary for a reader to identify and locate any source you cite in the body of the paper.
In general, each source you cite in the paper must appear in your reference list; this includes sources from which you used direct quotations as well as sources for which you included paraphrased information. Likewise, each entry in the reference list must be cited in your text. There are some exceptions, including personal communications, general mentions of a whole website or periodical, sources of epigraphs like inspirational quotes, plus a few more. See APA Style's page, Works Included in a Reference List, for a discussion of works that should be excluded.
Your reference list should appear at the end of your paper, on a new page separate from the text of your paper. Label this page References in bold and centered at the top of the page. All text should be double-spaced like the rest of your paper. References should be listed in alphabetical order by the first author's last name. References should be in hanging indentation style.
