Can I use this citation generator I found online?

Answer

Be very, very careful!

There are many websites that will generate a citation for you, but using these kinds of sites can be very risky. Online citation generators rely on users to input data correctly, and are unable to correct any mistakes you might make.

Due to the high chance of error, we recommend you DO NOT use online citations generators (even those found through sources like Purdue Online Writing Lab). Instead, use the embedded citation tools in our databases and library catalog, or ask a librarian for help creating one from scratch.  As a best practice, it's a good idea to always double-check any citations that are generated by a computer.
