How do I cite a book in MLA format?
Answer
MLA Citation:
MLA Citation for books follows this format:
Author Last Name, First Name. Title of Book. Publisher, Publication date.
Example:
Gladwell, Malcolm. The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference. Little Brown, 2000.
- italicize the title
- Use "title case"; capitalize all words in title except for prepositions (to, from, etc) and article (the, a, an).
- include any sub-titles after a colon :
- City of publication no longer necessary in MLA 9th edition (*except books published before 1900)
