How do I print on campus? Can I print in color?

Answer

There are printers in the Library upstairs (color and black and white), and downstairs (black and white) and one outside of room 208 (black and white).

Default printing black & white on white 8 1/2" x 11" paper.

To print in color in the library, there is one color printer near the library classroom. The color printer is a Pharos printer. From a campus computer, use the desktop shortcut to get to Pharos and follow the steps below. This printer will not print all file types.  It will not print PowerPoint slides (a ppt file). Ask library staff or the Copy Center or Tech Support for help.

If you need to print in color, on larger sheets of paper or on colored paper, the Copy Center can help. Stop by Room 240 or call (607) 844-8222 ext. 4325 or email CopyCenter@TompkinsCortland.edu.

To print from a campus computer

1. Bring up the document and click the application's printer icon or select Print from the file menu.

2. Sign in with your regular TC3 credentials.

3. Go to one of the print release stations:

  • in the Library
    • outside the tutoring area
    • outside the library classroom
    • first floor outside Access & Equity
  • outside Room 208 (from this station, you will skip step 4)

4. Sign in again at the print release station. You will see all the files you've sent to the printer. Select the files to print and click Submit.

To print from your own computer

1. Go to the Pharos site.

2. Sign in using your usual TC3 credentials.

3. Drag and drop files or use the Upload button to add files to the Pharos print system.

4. Go to a Pharos printer* and sign in with your TC3 ID card or Pharos passcode.

  • To print with your ID card, you will first need to connect your card to Pharos.
    • Get a passcode: click the hamburger menu in the upper right of the Pharos screen after you've logged in.
    • Sign in on the printer with your passcode.
    • You will only need to do this once.
  • Pharos cannot read older ID cards.  Go to the Card Office in Room 101 if you need an updated card.

5. Press Print on the sign-in screen that's on the printer.

*Pharos printers have card readers and log-in screens on them.  In the library they are at the tutoring entrance, outside the library classroom and on the first floor outside Access & Equity.
