Does the library have videos specifically for nursing?

Answer

The library offers several options for nursing videos, including streaming videos, physical DVDs, and free online resources. These video collections can be useful to nursing students for general skills, NCLEX-RN exam prep, pharmacology, and specific assignments.

  • Academic Video Online is an educational streaming video package that covers a wide range of subject areas and publishers. It includes some nursing content, especially nursing history.
  • Nursing Education in Video: Third Edition is a streaming video package that includes demonstration and skills videos to help students improve clinical skills.
  • The library does have some DVDs that cover aspects of nursing history as well, and we can always try to order others from other libraries as needed.
  • Pharmacology World is another video resource of interest to nursing students.  It's part of the library's STAT!Ref subscription and is often used to supplement content for selected nursing classes. Pharmacology World includes around 50 videos and over 12 hours of content, covering all major drug classes, as well as relevant physiology, pathophysiology, and biochemistry.  This is a good video resource to prepare for course exams as well as national licensure exams.

The Find Videos and Multimedia tab from the library's nursing guide also makes suggestions for some links to freely available sites for demonstrations of nursing skills and procedures, as well as sources of multimedia information suitable for patients and health care consumers.
