What should I do if multiple assignments are used to assess the same SLO?

Answer

If you're course is designed so that there are multiple assignments, or a sequence of assignments, that are used to assess a specific SLO, the instructor has a couple of options available:

  1. Pick one (1) of the assignments and base the assessment data on student performance on that assignment. Then in question 15, use that space to note that the data only reflects student performance on that one assignment.
  2. Pick all assignments, average a student's scores across all assignments, and base the assessment data on that average. Again, use question 15 to note that the assessment data is based on averages.

In subsequent department meetings, discuss with your colleagues which approach would be most accurate and implement those changes in coming semesters.
