I'd like to include a link to a library database in my course. How do I do that?

Answer

Option 1: Copy and Paste a Link

If you want to include a link to the library's catalog or to a library database, get the URL from our alphabetical list of databases.

  1. Locate the database you are interested in by its subject, title, or type.
  2. Right-click on the title.
  3. Select Copy link address in the menu that pops up and then paste it in Brightspace where you need it using Create a Link.

Option 2: Select and Embed a Link from within Brightspace

In the module, click Existing Activities and then select External Learning Tools.

In the alphabetical list of external learning tools, click Springshare Single-Course Tool - TCC

It will now display as a link in your module. Click on the link to see your options.

The LibGuides Site will already be selected.  Click the down arrow in the Content Type box and scroll to the A-Z Databases heading.

Choose the Specific A-Z Database option.  Click on the down arrow in the Database box and start typing a word from the database name.

Select the one you want and then click Embed Content.

In the module, the link will still be labeled Springshare Single-Course Tool - TCC.  Click on that link and you can change the wording by clicking on the down arrow and selecting Edit Title.

Notice that with this second option you have other ways to integrate library databases with your course.  Plus, what you select includes more information than the database link, alone.
